The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the overall Quality Assurance activities to ensure product meets Edelbrock Group expectations. Monitoring performance and administering OEM customers and supplier, following the requirements, procedures and expectations to minimize risks and drive customer satisfaction by managing countermeasures to improve product robustness and appropriate actions where and when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This person will work closely with our OEM customers and Suppliers.
  • Maintain monthly performance reports and distribute.
  • Review OEM requirements regarding new projects, warranty and customer concerns and provide feedback to internal team.
  • Review Supplier requirements regarding new projects, warranty and customer concerns and provide feedback to internal team.
  • Support and participate, in new projects, warranty, customer concerns and contract negotiation with OEM customers and suppliers.
  • Responsible for handling and submitting the PPAP for new projects with our OEMs customers.
  • Responsible for establishing the PPAP requirements for new projects with suppliers.
  • Perform regular quality control audits of suppliers to ensure suppliers continue to work in compliance with established requirements.
  • Review incoming purchased parts and products from supplier to check for defects and ensure quality.
  • Conduct tests and assessments on purchased parts an products to identify quality issues.
  • Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
  • Provide technical advice, guidance and coaching to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement in conjunction with engineering and operations.
  • Have a fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction supplier relations and performance, leadership training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics.
  • Support and participate in APQP activities.
  • Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2015

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5 years of related experience in manufacturing with advanced technical training
  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven progressive experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supplier Quality Engineering and Auditing.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven progressive experience with automotive OEM (GM, Ford, Lotus) or Tier 1 suppliers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High performance teams and a strong team player.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of inspection and quality control methods, techniques and equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of use of a wide variety of measuring instruments and product schematics including blue prints and bills of materials.
  • Working Knowledge of PPAP; SPC; APQP; FMEA; Control Plans; MSA; ISO 9001:2015; Six Sigma; GD&T: metrology.
  • Have working knowledge of statistical analysis, data management and statistical software (Minitab).
  • Possess attention to detail.
  • Show ability for problem analysis and problem resolution utilizing systematic problem-solving tools (5-Why analysis, Fishbone analysis, Kaizen methodology).
  • Experience with automotive strategies and reliability goals
  • Strong visual acuity and the ability to judge slight variation in product.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
